Klong Toey is one of Bangkok’s biggest and oldest slums. It houses about 140,000 people, who live under very bad conditions – poor housing, poor access to clean water and electricity – with a high crime rate, drug abuse and a lack of basic human rights.
LÉVA’s studies and further research carried out by TYIN and Apostrophy have stimulated engagement in the local community and, potentially, various strategic measures that might contribute towards ending the negative trend in the district. Through close cooperation with students at several universities the project will be a catalyst for fresh ideas and other ring effects far beyond the specific measures initiated during the project period.
